MISS MOSS: POST Life Instyle Melbourne 2010

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

The Life Instyle trade fair Melbourne 2010 has come and gone...What a WONDERFUL experience it was. I am a trade fair virgin NO MORE!!!! What can I say? 1. Met extraordinary people; 2. Stayed in an extraordinary place (Melbourne..Mmmmm, know a GREAT little Italian restaurant in Docklands if anyone wants to know!); and 3. Exposed the MISS MOSS brand to the wider world et cetera. I LOVED every minute of it. MISS MOSS now has stockists in far flung parts of OZ - Tasmania, Perth, QLD...Next move is to showcase these lovely stockists (with whom I shared a glass or two of champagne!) on this blog and in my monthly e-letter. Stayed tuned Miss Mosser's for photos from Mission Beach, Subiaco, Geelong et al...xxx

Two Sleeps until Life Instyle, Melbourne

Friday, August 6th, 2010

Who can believe it? I certainly can’t! The Life Instyle trade fair in Melbourne is now sooooo close, I can hardly believe it! 2010 has been a LONG year sampling, manufacturing and stressing!! (See my delicious Miss Moss Putu earrings above, that are part of the 2010 collection!) Now I feel soooo organised, that I might even have time to paint my nails. I don’t think I’ve done that since 1982! So, today I spent the day packing all my goodies – jewellery, catalogues, display stands et al and then Sunday I’m off to Canberra to fly to Melbourne first thing. Let’s hope the fog doesn’t delay take off. Monday will be all about setting up the stand, while Tuesday we kick off with a BANG!

Trail of Inspiration

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

These yummy fabric samples are by
LULU DK an interiors company (based in NY) headed by designer Lulu deKwiatkowski. Along with textiles, LULU DK also produce wallpaper, bedding and other custom designed interiors products. I happened upon this company through Lulu’s blog, Trail of Inspiration which really is rather lush, lovely and lively. The main LULU DK website also features a quote by Truman Capote which reads: “The freedom to pursue an aesthetic quality in life is an extra dimension, like being able to fly while others work.” Fine words!

Famous Fashion Quotes

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

I’m thinking of rustling up a few famous fashion quotes to use as part of my display at the up-and-coming Life Instyle exhibition in Melbourne. I can see them scrawled in hot pink across the wall. Here are a few that I stumbled across that pack a bit of a punch:

* “I don’t design clothes. I design dreams.” Ralph Lauren
* “The difference between style and fashion is quality.” Georgio Armani
* “Adornment, what a science! Beauty, what a weapon!” Coco Chanel

If you have any great fashion related quotes, I’d love some feedback!

Creating The Look: Benini & Fashion Photography

Monday, July 12th, 2010

There’s a new, not to be missed, exhibition that’s about to be launched at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum. It’s titled, you guessed it: Creating the look: Benini and fashion photography. And it kicks off on 31 July, 2010. This yummy new exhibition – that is part of Sydney Design 10 – explores the art of fashion photography. Creating the look: Benini and fashion photography explores the creative processes involved in styling, crafting and designing powerful eye-catching fashion photographs. More specifically it draws on the highly successful partnership between Italian-born photographer Bruno Benini and his wife Hazel Benini, a New Zealand-born window display artist, fashion stylist and visual merchandising designer. From the 1950s through to 2000, the couple produced some of Australia’s most memorable and elegant fashion images by combining careful styling with elegant design.

Okay, so the Coastal Collective web page is up with a blurb on what this exciting new endeavour is all about. Delicious! Orders are – of course – welcome. And subscribe to our E-News, via the website, if you wish. It’s only 7 weeks now until Coastal Collective (Miss Moss Fashion Australia + anna&sally + Coastal Collective Style + Living) exhibit at Melbourne’s LifeInstyle…It’s terribly exciting…yikes!

One8one7

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Many moons ago, I worked for a Sydney based magazine titled Pol Oxygen – it was a “fab-delicious” (is THAT a word?) exploration of all things artistic + design-oriented + divine! Marcus Piper, was its very talented art director who – mid-career shifted to London, before re-locating to Austinmer on the South Coast, NSW, Australia. Marcus was recently in touch and unveiled his new creative life. It takes the current form: one8one7 This very inspiring enterprise was recently listed as one of Sydney’s (or is that South Coast?) Top 100 Creatives. Go Marcus Go! Indeedie do!

Miss Moss Fashion: LifeInstyle Update

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

Isn’t this divine?! It’s the graphic template that I’ll be using to advertise Miss Moss Fashion at the up-and-coming LifeInstyle August 2010. It’s designed with the considerable skill of Anna Foster-Percy of kids wear brand annaandsally We’re currently in the throes of designing our stand (Stand 218, Hall 2) which is exciting. But, 3×3 metres doesn’t give you much to play with, I have to admit….
