Famous Fashion Quotes

July 18th, 2010

I’m thinking of rustling up a few famous fashion quotes to use as part of my display at the up-and-coming Life Instyle exhibition in Melbourne. I can see them scrawled in hot pink across the wall. Here are a few that I stumbled across that pack a bit of a punch:

* “I don’t design clothes. I design dreams.” Ralph Lauren
* “The difference between style and fashion is quality.” Georgio Armani
* “Adornment, what a science! Beauty, what a weapon!” Coco Chanel

If you have any great fashion related quotes, I’d love some feedback!

Creating The Look: Benini & Fashion Photography

July 12th, 2010

There’s a new, not to be missed, exhibition that’s about to be launched at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum. It’s titled, you guessed it: Creating the look: Benini and fashion photography. And it kicks off on 31 July, 2010. This yummy new exhibition – that is part of Sydney Design 10 – explores the art of fashion photography. Creating the look: Benini and fashion photography explores the creative processes involved in styling, crafting and designing powerful eye-catching fashion photographs. More specifically it draws on the highly successful partnership between Italian-born photographer Bruno Benini and his wife Hazel Benini, a New Zealand-born window display artist, fashion stylist and visual merchandising designer. From the 1950s through to 2000, the couple produced some of Australia’s most memorable and elegant fashion images by combining careful styling with elegant design.

One8one7

June 17th, 2010

Many moons ago, I worked for a Sydney based magazine titled Pol Oxygen – it was a “fab-delicious” (is THAT a word?) exploration of all things artistic + design-oriented + divine! Marcus Piper, was its very talented art director who – mid-career shifted to London, before re-locating to Austinmer on the South Coast, NSW, Australia. Marcus was recently in touch and unveiled his new creative life. It takes the current form: one8one7 This very inspiring enterprise was recently listed as one of Sydney’s (or is that South Coast?) Top 100 Creatives. Go Marcus Go! Indeedie do!

Miss Moss Fashion: LifeInstyle Update

June 9th, 2010

Isn’t this divine?! It’s the graphic template that I’ll be using to advertise Miss Moss Fashion at the up-and-coming LifeInstyle August 2010. It’s designed with the considerable skill of Anna Foster-Percy of kids wear brand annaandsally We’re currently in the throes of designing our stand (Stand 218, Hall 2) which is exciting. But, 3×3 metres doesn’t give you much to play with, I have to admit….
